The Rainbow Lid

How do we make McDonald’s limited edition treat even more Instagrammable and fun for it’s 50th anniversary? By making the lids of the Shamrock Shake out of diffraction plastic. This allows every Shamrock Shake to be served with a rainbow, bringing much needed color to the grey of winter.

This idea won 1st place in Chicago Portfolio School’s Winning Your Pitch Class. The agency was impressed enough to hire me.

Out of home

To build hype and speculation and tease fans with a rainbow clue, we create billboards and bus shelters made of entirely out of diffraction plastic material.

Mcdonald’s Drive Thru

With 70% of McDonald’s orders made at the drive-thru window, it only makes sense that we bring rainbows to that experience as well. At select McDonald’s locations, customers who order a Shamrock Shake will get to physically drive through rainbow beams of light to claim their treat.

Social Media

The Rainbow Lid adds a fun level of interactivity to the Shamrock Shake, giving McDonald’s fans even more reason to share their love on Social Media.
